Venice part 2

Later that day in Venice, we got gelato, which was awesome. So far, everything was going pretty okay because everyone in Venice seems to understand English.

That night we stayed in because we were both exhausted. Naomi’s internal clock still hasn’t synced yet.

We woke up early to get to the Rialto market before all the tourist. We ended up getting there before the shops..

But it was worth it when everything was finally set up. The fish market was so insane! There were eels, octopus, squids, weird flat fish, tuna, salmon. Massive fish I’d never seen before too. Naomi browsed the vegetables and fruit tables while I took videos of men chopping up meat. I will entertain many of you, I’m sure, with these videos when I get home.

We went to the Guggenheim museum of art and took about a billion photos of art. And also of me sitting in a big stone chair.

San Marco square was after that. It was fucking huge. Venice is so tiny and narrow, so when we walked into this giant square filled with tourists, it was quite a shock. The pigeons were terrifying there. I don’t know why, but tourists seemed to be feeding them and letting the pigeons land on them. I saw a little girl with like, 5 pigeons on her arms and head. I’m not really sure how to describe it, so stay tuned for photos on facebook when I get home.

The rest of that day consisted of us getting lost again by taking the water bus to Lido.. which is.. not in venice.. and then going back to our home square in Ca D’oro and having a mediocre dinner with beer and picking up some tiramisu to eat at the hotel room.

An aside:

Haha, but seriously rome..

where are your adult showers?

florence and venice

Yeah, so since venice had no internet except in the Rialto square and on the busboats for some reason, I am posting this in parts. And we are now in ROME!

Florence to venice:

Upon arrival, we had no problem getting a taxi and into our hotel. Everyone was super friendly and helpful and all the streets were really easy to navigate. We got comfortable in the hotel room and took a long nap. Around 8, we headed out for dinner. After wandering around trying to find some cheap places, we settled on a cute little restaurant beside a cathedral that had a jazz band playing at it.

We got awesome pasta from a waiter who appeared to hate us. (probably because I pointed out that they had tap water on the menu for 1.50, so why was he giving us a bottle for 2.50) All the server boys and kitchen staff kept stopping by our table to hit on Naomi (much like children, they flirted by making dumb faces until she giggled at them.)

Dinner was good, I had pasta with alfredo sauce and she had ravioli.

There were so many lights outside and it kind of looked like a street party. It was really lovely.

Since we were exhausted, we went back to the B&B and slept.

We woke up at 10:30 am even though Naomi set an alarm for 8. Which is okay, because apparently we needed the sleep.

We decided to explore in the daytime, so we had a croissant at a little café and then got ourselves lost around the city. It was nice. Around 1, we went to an archeological museum that was super cheap (1 euro each) and brushed up on our roman history.

At night we went to a place that was mostly outdoors and the waiters were very very flirtatious (please see drunk!post)

In the morning, we left at 9:30 and taxied to the train station. We grabbed a train to Venice.

We arrived at venice at 1:30. Immediately, we are lost.

We manage to get 48 hour water bus passes. We ask everyone who speaks English where we are and where we need to be but nobody is helpful. No map has all the street names.

Nobody in venice (even the locals) apparently understand where they are on a map. We wander for about 30 minutes before figuring out where we are.

We are sweaty and frustrated and kinda want to punch everyone in the face. We are slightly cheered up by hearing that our hotel was actually prepaid, so now we don’t have to take out money in venice.

The room is small, and there is one bathroom for the floor, but at least we are here.

After getting out of the hotel, we walked around the streets for a while and had pizza. I got the four cheese kind and Naomi got basically a spicy pepperoni pizza, which turned out to be pretty awesome.

We felt a lot better after eating. We then went to visit the jewish ghetto, which was crazy cool. Super tall buildings and Hebrew signs. There were a bunch of Israeli tourists also, which was very disorienting because the mix of Hebrew and Italian was strange.

Anonymous asked: cute shirt! I would buy you shots of limoncello in that shirt. signed, your bff.

Hell yeah you would.

Just a few of the photos we took today!

drunk post time

I’m going to post about yesterday later because I just had a lot of alcohol on the waiter’s dime. Cause we are very pretty. and waiters in italy are super desperate.

They were very nice. too nice. we got free champagne (because we are soooo pretty) and some really lemony post-dinner liquer. I am writing very well for how intoxicated I am. Naomi is less drunk because she did not want to drink any of her limoncello because she said no to the dude offering us shots that he brought anyway and I drank hers.

They both asked to hang out with us later and we totally bounced before they got off work.

quotes of the night: “just take your shirt off, then we’ll leave.” “show him a little shoulder…SCANDALOUSSSSS.” “No, no.. we go to the discoteque. I just want dance.. not.. y’know..”

Anonymous asked: I'm so glad to hear you guys arrived safely, if not incredibly sleep-deprived-ly! Sounds like just getting there has already been quite the adventure!!! I'm looking forward to hearing more about your travels and I miss you already! ~Clemstein
